Winter Solstice

2015-12-21

‘ I think again over my small adventures My fears, Those small ones that seemed so big, For all the vital things I had to get and reach. And yet, there is only one great thing, The only thing, To live to see the great day that dawns And the light that fills the world. ‘ – From an Inuit song. Sent to me at the most auspicious time from a dear friend. Happy Winter Solstice everyone!

Prayer

2015-12-02

I’ve been trying to make a point of bringing more prayer and meditation into my life. It’s something that brings me so much joy and reprieve from the everyday craziness, yet somehow I let it slip and when days go by without checking in—I feel untethered from a deeper, more grounded sense of self. Here is a beautiful sentiment regarding smoke as a conduit for prayer… ” Smoke is an ancient offering, still present in many spiritual traditions.

Not So Very Long Ago

2015-10-07

All One via Everything Golden Blog Today I asked my daughter if she wanted to go for a hike and she looks outside, thinks for a minute and says, ” I want to see the moose. Moose is outside. ” She says this as if the moose is part of our family and this brings me immense joy, because the moose is part of our family. We are all one. One of the reasons I love this place so much and feel so connected

My Mother – My Main Muse

2015-10-06

An old friend of my mom’s recently wrote a comment about my shop that was the best compliment I could receive. She said that it reminded her Carol (my mom, who passed away 15 years ago). She is my main muse and I am always channeling her when I create or find things. My mother in law, who often accompanies me on buying trips, once said that I must have started developing my sense of style while in my mother’s womb. It’s

Who Will Speak?

2015-06-30

Andreas Lie Amazing artwork by: Andreas Lie (You can purchase very affordable prints here.) WHO WILL SPEAK? by: Linda Hogan If all the animals came from the hills, if all the fish came from the rivers, and all the birds came down from the sky we would know our lives, small, somewhere between the mountain and the ant. We would see what we do pass by and return around Earth’s curve. All I know are these rivers, and the air and

Bear Medicine

2015-06-24

Today is a great day to write about my tattoo. I had a dream last night that brings everything full circle. I have come so far from a year ago. I was dealing with some mega postpartum anxiety and fear was literally running my life.  With the help of a wonderful therapist, or guru rather, I got back in touch with my dreams and my most inner self. The bear has been a frequent visitor both in my dreams

Mountain Storms by: Ryan Chandler

2015-05-13

This poem is by my dear cousin Ryan Chandler. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him better in the past few years. We have been able to connect through a love for poetry and he is a very inspired writer himself. Ever so often, he shares his words with me and I’m always blown away. See for yourself… Mountain Storms I watch the rain come down from my window, coffee cooling in my mug, which

Our Tipi

2015-05-05

Our Tipi via Everything Golden Blog Our tipi is up! This has been a long time dream of mine, to set up my mom’s tipi. She was living in this tipi in Vermont in the 70’s when she met my father. My dear friend Alyson brought it back to life for a few years so I was able to enjoy it with her then. Now, it’s at our house, ready for many moments of meditation, sleeping next to the creek and hosting gatherings. It was

Cleansing with Sage

2015-04-18

I’ve lovingly created these sage bundles that will be included with every vintage clothing order. Burning sage is a traditional Native American practice to cleanse physical and energetic spaces of any negativity to restore balance, and prepare for future intentions. Use this hand-crafted, wild-harvested sage bundle to imbue your vintage garment with intention before it joins you on life’s journey. Or, just enjoy the smell;) Thank you Alyson for helping me finesse these words.

Muse – Joy Harjo

2015-03-24

I’m currently losing myself in the work of Joy Harjo. I’m loving this interview on Talk of the Nation and this poem… Eagle Poem To pray you open your whole self To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon To one whole voice that is you. And know there is more That you can’t see, can’t hear; Steadily growing, and in languages That aren’t always sound but other Circles of motion. Like eagle that Sunday morning Over Salt River.
