Dreaming of Spring

2015-02-03

Here in Montana, spring is a distant memory, yet that doesn’t stop us from dreaming. We had so much fun playing dress up and make believing that it was time to wear cut-off shorts and huaraches. Natalie Brown is the stunner of a model as well as a very inspired author and metalsmith. And, Yvonne Reddy offered her magical styling touch. View the full lookbook here.

Forty Portraits in Forty Years

2014-12-30

My friend Alyson just showed me this wonderful series of photographs taken of four sisters over forty years. I love their classic no-fuss, yet distinctive style and how it doesn’t change all that much over time. These women remind me so much of my mom, especially as the NY Times article aptly describes their “glamour-neutral attitudes.” Photographed by Nicholas Nikon.

Winter Photo Shoot

2014-12-05

Everything Golden Winter 14 Here are some of my faves from our latest photo shoot. We were able to take advantage of the beautiful studio of Lindsey Stewart and Pam Omohundro, architect and photographer.  And again, I can’t stress enough how excited I am to be working with Yvonne Reddy, a truly inspired stylist. Tessa Moeckel is the rockin’ model who I spotted at the local co-op here. She’s a poet and farmer studying to be a speech therapist. I’m so lucky

Mary Oliver

2014-10-21

December Then the deer stepped from the woods. It walked from the shadows under the trees into a clear space. Antlers sprang from it’s brow, each with five or six tines. From the antlers, from each tine, green leaves were growing, as if from branches of a tree. The deer stood without moving, brutish and graceful as deer alive in the daylight, except that its heavy, elaborate head was carrying, upon the usal curvatures of horn, these branches,

Little Yellow House

2014-09-29

I try and always write down my dreams first thing in the morning. I love the ritual, savoring that transition between dream life and waking life. I believe there is much we can discover about our innermost selves from our dreams. Recently I started experimenting with poetry, so I started writing my dreams in verse and I was delighted at how much more I could gleam from the dream. Instead of trying to decode the symbolism or metaphor from the dream,

Dishes

2014-09-25

I wrote another poem… Dishes I lean back into this moment and I remember the words of Thich Nhat Hahn, ” I clean this teapot with the kind of attention I would have were I giving the baby Buddha or Jesus a bath.” I struggle to stay with the running water the steam rising yearning to tap in to what’s beyond the naming – this plate, moving water.
