Poetry as Prayer

2016-11-18

My morning ritual — reading and writing poetry has turned into a form of prayer for me. With the recent change of season, I had a lapse in this precious time. As the chilly air started settling in, I had to find a new space that called to me and allowed me to revel in my dream life just a bit longer. During this lapse, I found myself falling into old patterns. Going straight to my computer and

Our Trip to Standing Rock

2016-11-16

It’s one thing to learn about a situation from afar. It’s easier to compartmentalize that way — to think that’s awful but it’s happening to them, not me. It’s an entirely different experience to actually feel the energy around a struggle. I experienced this last weekend at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. This feels like an opening for me — to step into an uncomfortable story instead of just reading about it. I’ve lived in a mostly comfortable

Gaurdians of the Grizzly

2016-08-19

I have been drawn in to the work of GOAL—a tribal coalition to protect the grizzly. GOAL is nearly 50 Tribal Nations united in the cause to protect the sacred grizzly bear, the defense of tribal sovereignty, and the preservation of indigenous spiritual and religious rights. Currently all of the proceeds from our Wild Within cards are going to this organization. I encourage you to spend some time on their website and donate if possible. You can also write letters to policy makers(see contact info

Wild Within: For the Love and Protection of Wildlife

2016-06-24

These cards were created out of a shared love and deep reverence for wildlife, especially the animals we share our land with. All proceeds will go to wildlife protection. We will be focusing on local efforts to protect wild bison, wolves, bears, elk, or any wild animal that needs support and attention. Currently we’re passionate about ESA protections remaining for the Grizzly Bear in the Greater Yellowstone Area. We’d love to use proceeds from these cards to help

Winter Solstice

2015-12-21

‘ I think again over my small adventures My fears, Those small ones that seemed so big, For all the vital things I had to get and reach. And yet, there is only one great thing, The only thing, To live to see the great day that dawns And the light that fills the world. ‘ – From an Inuit song. Sent to me at the most auspicious time from a dear friend. Happy Winter Solstice everyone!

Not So Very Long Ago

2015-10-07

All One via Everything Golden Blog Today I asked my daughter if she wanted to go for a hike and she looks outside, thinks for a minute and says, ” I want to see the moose. Moose is outside. ” She says this as if the moose is part of our family and this brings me immense joy, because the moose is part of our family. We are all one. One of the reasons I love this place so much and feel so connected

Who Will Speak?

2015-06-30

Andreas Lie Amazing artwork by: Andreas Lie (You can purchase very affordable prints here.) WHO WILL SPEAK? by: Linda Hogan If all the animals came from the hills, if all the fish came from the rivers, and all the birds came down from the sky we would know our lives, small, somewhere between the mountain and the ant. We would see what we do pass by and return around Earth’s curve. All I know are these rivers, and the air and

Bear Medicine

2015-06-24

Today is a great day to write about my tattoo. I had a dream last night that brings everything full circle. I have come so far from a year ago. I was dealing with some mega postpartum anxiety and fear was literally running my life.  With the help of a wonderful therapist, or guru rather, I got back in touch with my dreams and my most inner self. The bear has been a frequent visitor both in my dreams

Healing Plants

2015-05-15

Healing Herbal Tea Blend via Everything Golden Blog I’ve had this cold for the past few weeks that is kicking my ass. I thought I was getting better until I felt a sinus infection coming on. I was so determined to not go the antibiotics route so I went to see my dear friend Mattie of Juniperous. She is so in tune with plants and their healing and spiritual quality, it’s an absolute joy to be able to share in her knowledge. She set me up with
