Tonight we will share a night of creative hearts that have come together in the most synergistic collaboration I have ever been a part of — a combination of dance, poetry and weaving. It’s hard to even pinpoint where this thing started, it’s been such an effortless unfolding of creative ideas shared in a safe circle of inspired women. Alayna Rasile-Digrindakis is sharing her tapestry woven during seven consecutive hours on a rooftop in Brooklyn. The dancers will be interacting with her textiles while also responding to her live weaving, a dance in itself. Dana Alberston and Melissa Dawn have guided us with direction for interpretive dance intuited by weaving and a poem written by myself. It’s poetry in motion. Melissa provided a quote that sums it up beautifully,

“I view composition and performance as ecologically rooted acts. Movement, culture, politics, stories, images and gestures are imbedded in and interwoven through the places, bodies and beings of dance.” – Chris Aiken
